Microsoft Pleads With Consumers to Adopt Vista Now

I for one am currently at torn between XP and Vista. I like XP because it doesn't crash, my drivers work. However, more people keep asking for help with Vista, and I haven't even logged into a Vista Machine yet. :(
Microsoft Pleads With Consumers to Adopt Vista Now - SlinkySausage writes "Microsoft has admitted, in an email to the press, that 'some customers may be waiting to adopt Windows Vista because they've heard rumors about device or application compatibility issues, or because they think they should wait for a service pack release.' The company is now pleading with customers not to wait until the release of SP1 at the end of the year, launching a 'fact rich' program to try to convince them to 'proceed with confidence'. The announcement coincides with an embarrassing double-backflip: Microsoft had pre-briefed journalists that it was going to allow home users to run Vista basic and premium under virtual machines like VMWare, but it changed its mind at the last minute and pulled the announcement."

Perry Ellis gives away cheapo USB flash drive

Perry Ellis gives away cheapo USB flash drive -

You would think that Perry Ellis, a "respectable" department store clothing maker, could afford something half-way decent to hand out to its customers -- but you would be wrong. Like many designer products, after you get through the ornate packaging and custom plastic box, it's just cheap junk from China. In this case, that cheap junk happens to be a 64MB (that's right, megabyte) USB flash drive. Of course, you'll be thanking Perry when you've got a place to store one big Photoshop file.

[Thanks, kristofer]

If you're looking for a specific web application to meet your needs, but you're not sure where to find it, you might want to check out SimpleSpark, a catalog of over 3000 useful online services.

For instance, I typed in "organize" and retrieved around 95 different results to help me get my stuff together. You can also browse through the entire catalog (organized by category), browse pending listings, or check out what's just been added. I found this incredibly helpful especially since there's just so much good new stuff coming out; it's somewhat tricky to keep track of what works and what doesn't.

Microsoft Office Roundtable reviewed

Microsoft Office Roundtable reviewed -

Filed under:

The good people over at TMCnet want to keep you covered with their lengthy review of Redmond's five-camera foray into the teleconferencing game, which, as part of Microsoft's Unified Communications Platform, will probably be seeing a lot of action this year. And what are their feelings? Well, they get stoked on its resemblance to the ships in the 1953 version of War of the Worlds, dig the "head-size spatial equalization" (which makes everyone's head the same size, seriously), and think that maybe $3000 is a fair price. The only thing they weren't quite as excited about was the inability to use the panoramic features with non-Ballmerware, but even that appears to be a minor complaint. Still not sure you need one for your startup? Maybe you'd better read the whole thing.
