More Than Half of Known Vista Bugs are Unpatched

More Than Half of Known Vista Bugs are Unpatched - MsManhattan writes "Microsoft security executive Jeff Jones has disclosed that in the first six months of Vista's release, the company has patched fewer than half of the operating system's known bugs. Microsoft has fixed only 12 of 27 reported Vista vulnerabilities whereas it patched 36 of 39 known bugs in Windows XP in the first six months following its release. Jones says that's because "Windows Vista continues to show a trend of fewer total and fewer high-severity vulnerabilities at the six month mark compared to ... Windows XP," but he did not address the 15 unpatched flaws."

Search: Find useful web apps with SimpleSpark - simple_spark.png

If you're looking for a specific web application to meet your needs, but you're not sure where to find it, you might want to check out SimpleSpark, a catalog of over 3000 useful online services.

For instance, I typed in "organize" and retrieved around 95 different results to help me get my stuff together. You can also browse through the entire catalog (organized by category), browse pending listings, or check out what's just been added. I found this incredibly helpful especially since there's just so much good new stuff coming out; it's somewhat tricky to keep track of what works and what doesn't.

Windows Live Photo Gallery 2008 12.0.1193.815 Beta

Microsoft is pumping out more free software for the masses. I've never heard or seen Windows Live Photo Gallery, but I thought about downloading and installing this application to give it a whirl. During the install, I asked to install a bunch more Windows Live applications. Specifically the Mail component, since my MSN account is attached to my Hotmail. After installing everything, I ran the Windows Live Photo Gallery, and it was pretty amazing.

Mobile Chat When Will it Work?

If you've had an iPhone since the launch of Apples Application Store, then you most likely have bought the app Mobile Chat. I mean who wouldn't, just looking at their features http://mobilech.at/features you'd be silly not to pick the only instant messenger on the iPhone. Granted there are Web App versions, but nothing application wise. Here are some of the features.
MobileChat supports the following protocols: * AIM/ICQ/.Mac/MobileME * Windows Live/MSN * Yahoo Messenger * GTalk * Jabber/XMPP Multiple Accounts

KDE 4 Beta 3 – Screenshot Tour

A rather in-depth screenshot tour of the new KDE 4 beta 3 booted from a LiveCD.
Stephan Binner has released a new version of his KDE Four Live CD. This version uses a recent SVN snapshot and works quite well. While I had some trouble testing the newest KDE 4 Beta release on my test machine, the KDE Four LiveCD works surprisingly well. According to Stephan the version used on this LiveCD is KDE 4 Beta 3 plus a set of recent patches.
