I love the smell of a price war in the morning. Record microprocessor sales and an overall revenue increase of 18 percent versus the previous quarter, 26 percent year-over year, and a 29 percent revenue increase in the graphics segment—such a strong quarter—wasn’t enough to pull AMD into positive earnings territory. At least the chipmaker is less in the red than it was in the second quarter.

Alright, the whole touchscreen thing is getting a little out of hand. In the latest example of touch-frenzy, luxe clothier Ralph Lauren is converting a large window at its London flagship store into a giant touchscreen shopping experience as part of its Wimbledon marketing campaign. Much like Microsoft's Big-Ass Table, the 78-inch window is coated with touch-sensitive foil, and the image is beamed onto it by a hidden projector -- allowing users to purchase Ralph's latest duds and even take in a tennis lesson or two. Purchases are paid for via phone or email the next day -- so you can't explain away that $75 pink polo by saying you accidentally brushed the screen.

A diabolical ring of super-thieves has been terrorizing the good people of Tulsa, OK., by conducting elaborate burglaries of stores like Best Buy and Office Depot. In their most recent exploit, the robbers cut two holes in the roof of a Best Buy, rappelled into the store, disabled the alarm system, and then stole more than 40 laptops, a number of plasma TVs and the store's safe. A local crime reporter claims they "leave behind no fingerprints, no witnesses and no surveillance tapes". They also reportedly have super-human strength, psionic powers, and can all fly at nearly supersonic speeds.
