Must have Thunderbird/Seamonkey Addons

If you don’t know about Thunderbird, then you’ve been living under a rock. Its a small, lightweight, Email application provided free by the Mozilla foundation. I was looking around for Thunderbird add-ons this evening and found a couple that I found to be a “Must Have” for anyone that uses Thunderbird as their primary email client. I’ll list them off in no particular order: Enigmail – OpenPGP message encryption and authentication for Thunderbird and Seamonkey.

I’ll list them off in no particular order:

Enigmail – OpenPGP message encryption and authentication for Thunderbird and Seamonkey.

Quote Colors – Configure text and background colors for different quote levels in mail/news messages which are applied when reading or printing messages. Some other basic options like modifying message background, text and link colors are also…

Header Scroll Extension – Adds a scrollbar to the extended all header view so that it doesn’t take all the space when viewing all headers. This is a workaround for bug #223132…

Headers Toggle – Gives Thunderbird a keyboard shortcut (H) to change how headers are displayed.

Display mailing list header – This extension implements RFC 2369 for Thunderbird: Special mailing list header fields in the mail are parsed, and the links are displayed in the extended header view. You can click them to simply go to the archive, request help or unsubscribe…

Auto Zip Attachments for Thunderbird – Auto Zip Attachments allows you to easily compress (zip) attachments. A new button named “AutoZip” is added to the compose toolbar.
Upon pressing the button all the attachments would be compressed into a single file. Then the attachments are replaced with the zipped file.

Search for Sender – Adds two items to the threadpane context menu, ‘Search for this sender’ and ‘Search for this subject’. This basically takes the sender or subject of the selected message, copies it to the QuickSearch window and starts the search.

Contacts Sidebar – Displays the address books in a sidebar in Thunderbirds 3-pane-window and can be toggled with the F4 key or a toolbar button.

MinimizeToTray / Minimize To Tray Enhancer – Minimizes Mozilla windows into the system tray. Also includes a right clickable tray icon menu to further load only the windows you want visible…

And some note worthy add-ons that I would not use but I know other people would enjoy.

In their most recent exploit, the robbers cut two holes in the roof of a Best Buy, rappelled into the store, disabled the alarm system, and then stole more than 40 laptops, a number of plasma TVs and the store's safe. A local crime reporter claims they "leave behind no fingerprints, no witnesses and no surveillance tapes". They also reportedly have super-human strength, psionic powers, and can all fly at nearly supersonic speeds.
