WoW Database Site Sells for $1 Million

WoW Database Site Sells for $1 Million – MattHock writes “Wowhead (a WoW information database) has to ZAM (Affinity Media) for the price of $1 Million. ZAM is the owner of several other WoW databases, including Thottbot and Allakhazam. Until recently Affinity was also the owner of IGE, a highly controversial company that sold in-game wealth for real life money. Affinity recently sold IGE, which Wowhead claims as the reason they allowed the sale to go through. But did ZAM really sell IGE? The blogger who put this story online doubts that IGE and ZAM have actually distanced themselves. He believes that the supposed sale was just actually a means of restructuring to hide the relationship, similar to how IGE’s relationship to Thottbot was hidden for a number of months through a convoluted set of parent companies.” Read more of this story at Slashdot. It was barely a month ago that Creative pelted the market with its Zen Stone, and now they're rolling out a re-upped and revamped version known as the Zen Stone Plus. While pretty much keeping the form factor the same, Creative has added a blue OLED screen, FM tuner, karaoke mode, and a stopwatch. The capacity has been increased to 2GB, doubling the original Stone's, but the color choices remain the same. Price and release date haven't been mentioned, but you'll know as soon as we do.

Adobe says Acrobat, Reader vulnerable to hacks

This is a disturbing as most white pages and manuals ranging from automobiles and computer motherboards are in PDF format. Even eBooks could be an easy way for a hacker to gain access to your machine, illegal books put online could be a trap for unsuspecting downloaders.
Adobe says Acrobat, Reader vulnerable to hacks - BOSTON (Reuters) - Adobe Systems Inc, whose software is used by millions of people to read documents sent over the Internet, said on Wednesday some of its programs contain yet-to-be-fixed flaws that make computers vulnerable to attack. On October 5, Adobe posted a notice on its Web site that said it had unknowingly incorporated vulnerabilities into versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat software that could allow malicious programs to get on to a PC without the user's knowledge.

Drupal Day 1

So, this is what Day 1 is like. I have a nice theme that I got off the main Drupal site. As you can see its sleep and colorful but not overwhelming. Aside from messing with the general configuration of Drupal, there is a lot more you need to do to make it even remotely functional/organized. Lets take categories for instance. At first I didn't know exactly how these worked. However after some playing around, and further posting. I was able to separate my blog entries and the HOWTO's. I just create a new Category for each, and then provide terms to place them under which is a great feature.

Windows Live Photo Gallery 2008 12.0.1193.815 Beta

Microsoft is pumping out more free software for the masses. I've never heard or seen Windows Live Photo Gallery, but I thought about downloading and installing this application to give it a whirl. During the install, I asked to install a bunch more Windows Live applications. Specifically the Mail component, since my MSN account is attached to my Hotmail. After installing everything, I ran the Windows Live Photo Gallery, and it was pretty amazing.
