Thunderbird still has potential to fly despite developers leaving the nest

Thunderbird is a pretty great open sourced mail client that is available on multiple platforms and for free. From the beginning its development has been mostly be shadowed by FireFox. The two core developers of Thunderbird have left Mozilla, which is a big blow to the ongoing development of Thunderbird. Will Thunderbird not longer get as many updates or new features? Will development complete stop? Only time will tell.

Microsoft backports Vista features for new Windows XP SP3 beta

Microsoft knows that XP will still be alive on desktops for the next 2-3 years before hardware will be put in place to utilize Vista. Therefore they have made available some of the features within Vista, in a new service pack for XP. At this point, Vista is really buggy and crashes often. I’ve even reverted back to XP after continued nightmares with Vista. I hope the new service for Vista brings some stability to the operating system that was originally slated to replace XP, but hasn’t done so quite yet.

iPhone, iPod touch v1.1.1 jailbroken, apps ported and running

It looks as though its not going to be that easy to hack up the 1.1.1 Firmware on the iPhone as it was with the 1.0.2 firmware. Right now it looks like you can jailbreak the phone but not unlock it. Apple has a good product here, why hinder the use of it and the ever growing third party apps?

LG to supply TV converters for US government program

Very interesting, no more analog TV channles. I wonder if Canada will follow suit.
LG to supply TV converters for US government program – For some, February 17, 2009 is going to be a frustrating day, as it marks the end of the line for American analog television broadcasts. Those with old-school wood-paneled TVs are going to either need to go out and buy a new set or purchase a converter box to be able to view the new digital channels. If I wasn’t already gadget-obsessed, I’d be mad as hell if someone forced me to upgrade my TV and I’d be even more furious once I found out how much it was going to cost me. Luckily, your trusty National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)has a solution.
